Meet the Team

We're a close-knit team on a healthy mission
Dr. Margaret Barrow

I am Margaret Barrow, Founder and CEO of It's Nola (formerly Brooklyn Granola). I am a tenured college professor, author, and keynote speaker. I am also a mother, sister, daughter, auntie, friend and non-judgemental vegetarian. Like you, I am complex and full of complexities.

Truth be told, menopause weight gain inspired me to make my own snacks. I focused on creating my own granola because I wasn't satisfied with the granola junk and crumbly mess I had been eating most of my life.

I knew I could make it better compared to what was already on the market. So I went into my kitchen and mixed oats, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, a plant-based binder and some exotic spices and created a compact, chewy, audaciously flavored and healthy, granola snack bite. My students, family and friends fell in love with them. I am deeply grateful everyday to my family and students who encouraged me to start this journey. It's Nola was born out of a need to be healthy and a desire to make a difference.

A passion of mine is fostering mentoring relationships. Mentoring, like all relationships, requires a deep commitment. One must enter the relationship with purpose and intention to build and guide. Investing time in the growth of another human being requires an invaluable time investment.
